Thinking about that next home improvement project on your wishlist? If you have the itch for carpentry, check out this blog we wrote recently: 5 Custom Carpentry Ideas for your Rhode Island Home. Whether you’re dreaming of a shiplap accent wall, wainscoting, or maybe ramping up your interior style with crown molding, we’ve got you covered.
Today, let’s talk interior paint.
Picking colors can be tough, so we thought we’d share a quick look at trending paint colors for 2023. We’ve also tossed in a couple color selection tips too. As always, if you get in a real jam, ask your professional painter if they can refer you to a color consultant. That’s an ideal way to get inspired and rethink your palette in a whole new way.
Trendy house paint colors
For the last few years light neutrals like white and gray were all the rage. And honestly? They aren’t going anywhere. Since they’re so versatile and timeless, you really can’t go wrong.
Recently, however, we’ve seen a pivot toward bolder, earthier colors. Relaxing but vibrant, these picks pack a much bigger punch and ooze personality. Good news if you like to add a little extra wow factor and don’t want your walls disappearing into the background.

Benjamin Moore’s Paint Color of the Year: Raspberry Blush
Keep the “blush” theme going with Ben Moore’s top color of 2023. Raspberry Blush is still earthy and natural, but definitely tips more toward the red end of the spectrum. They describe it as “coral tinged with pink.”
You can see it in this paint color highlight reel, along with several other cool options.

3 quick tips for picking interior paint colors
Don’t go by a paint swatch. Would you buy a car based on a photo in a magazine? Probably not! You want to see it, feel it, sit in it, and take it for a cruise. Well, you need to take your paint options for a cruise too. We recommend using swatches to narrow down your options, then getting samples that are actually applied to your walls.
Don’t pick paint just because it’s trendy. Sure, we JUST shared the trendiest color options, but those are meant to inspire, not pigeonhole. At the end of the day you need to pick what you love.
Don’t ask for too many opinions. Ever heard the saying: “There are too many cooks in the kitchen”? You don’t need 10 overnight design experts to push you one way or another. Get an outside opinion if you want, but make sure you don’t get too much input.
